Giving a better future to some of the many
street children in Jakarta is the main theme of the Aulia Foundation.
In several slum areas in Jakarta the Aulia Foundation gives aid to poor
families with lack of sufficient funds and knowledge.
Besides that the Foundation has three shelter houses in the city of Yogyakarta.
Here they can take care of children that can no longer live with their family.
The founders of the Aulia Foundation are Lestari and Eddy. Due to continuous
support from their dedicated and devoted fellow-workers they are able to
offer a helping hand for many children and their families.
The Aulia Foundation is completely managed by Indonesian people. Giving
attention, respect and love to the poor in the Indonesian society are the
basic rules of the Aulia Foundation. In addition the development of the
individual is of great importance for the Foundation.
The foundation mainly focuses on street girls. At a very young age, often
forced, these girls earn money on the streets, frequently in prostitution.
Resulting in many of these young girls becoming pregnant and even more
babies being brought into a, for them, prospectless world.
By stopping this viscous circle we can make a permanent step forward and
create a better future for these girls.
The name Aulia is not just a name; it’s an old Arabic word meaning
‘a new start’.
On this website you will find detailed information about the projects
of the Aulia Foundation in Jakarta as well as Yogyakarta.
This website is designed by a number of Englisch, Indonesian and Dutch
volunteers who support the Aulia Foundation in various ways.
